Rear-End Collisions

Compared to traditional vehicles, motorcycle riders are generally exposed to a significantly greater danger on the road. Even the slightest impact with a car could result in severe injuries and even death, since motorcycle riders are not protected with seat belts, metal frames, or airbags. Similar to a head-on collision, rear-end motorcycle accidents are unpredictable and serious for the victim.

Rear-end collisions usually occur when one vehicle hits the back of the other vehicle. If the accident involves two SUVs or two sedan cars, the consequences are usually minor. But when it comes to the motorcycle riders, rear-end collisions are most dangerous. When a car hits the back of a motorcycle, it usually lifts the back wheel in the air and flips the bike and the motorcyclist forward onto the road. In the case of a high-speed collision, there is always a risk that the car will be unable to stop and will run over the motorcyclist. Conversely, if a motorcycle rider hits a vehicle in the rear, the bike may stop, but the velocity will throw the motorcycle rider forward, landing the bike rider on top of the car or on the ground in front of it, causing various injuries.
